A loss for copy editors
Former copy editor and current executive editor of the San Jose Mercury News David Yarnold is leaving the paper.
He is leaving the field to lead Environmental Defense.

For the record: As far as I know Yarnold worked on the copy desk for no more than a few months of cross-training. He's actually a photographer who became photo editor, then managing editor, then exec. editor, then editorial page editor, in roughly that order.

I swear I remember someone saying that he was a particularly good boss for copy editors.
But maybe my mind is playing tricks on me.
